Stillheten is calmness: we can translate this word watching at its basic meaning. But calmness doesn't mean stillness. It means aesthetic and internal tension. It means something related to mystical things. Stillheten shows us his evolution, from "Frusen" (released by D.N.A. Collective in 2010), a moving concrete work made up by field recordings, guitars, drones and water bowls, passing through "The Right and God Made Sun Did Rise" (released by Ominous Recordings in 2011), in which remains only the twelwe strings guitar and its droning sound, ending and landing to "Septuagesima", his last work.
Here Stillheten become more abstract, like a painter who reduce to the minimum his palette. Just for keeping the essence of his work and artistic method. Stillheten, as an icon painter, as a Mondrian, creates a background which is not just a background, but the real golden sound of the mistical strain. Few touches of paintbrush, some touches on the strings, appears, to remember us that we are here, as touches of color, floating in this infinite background, which is our life.
D.N.A. Collective is proud to release "Septuagesima" by Stillheten in physical format. Professional cdr, exclusive design and package, everything handmade and homeprinted, with special handdraws. Limited to 24 copies.
A real work of art.
